Health, Wealth, and Happiness Affirmations for Artists and Writers

What I Left Out of These Affirmations for Artists and Writers and Why
Listen to that audio above as you are doing your dishes or meditating; I promise I won’t be asking you to repeat inane phrases like:
“I am a multi-zillionaire” or “I own a mansion and a yacht.”
(Remember that comical scene where a hypnotist has Bugs Bunny on his couch?)
You also won’t hear things like:
“Money just pours into my bank account as I nap in my La-Z-Boy.”
Because those kinds of affirmations haven’t helped me in my own life.
Why not?

I assume it’s because they inspired me to take ZERO action.
Although listening to ineffectual affirmations that distracted me from worrying for 10 minutes was probably better than my worrying for ten minutes. 🙂
So there’s that.
Why Affirmations For Artists/Writers?
The above comforting, encouraging, and inspiring well-being & wealth affirmations are made just for those of you gifted, sweet souls who are both artists and writers.
I made them for us because we artists/writers are a rare breed.

We artists/writers are often labeled with negative adjectives like:
- “Eclectic”
- “Scattered/Ditzy”
- “Eccentric”
- “Dilettante”
When instead, I argue we should be celebrated as:
- Bold
- Bright
- Innovative
- Polymaths.
What is a Polymath Anyway?
The word polymath is an adjective most often used when describing male creatives.
For an article on 9 Female Polymaths Who Shaped History, go here.
But back to my point.
Arist/writer combos like us often don’t get enough support.
So listen to affirmations (mine or anyone else’s) on days when you aren’t feelin’ it.
The above set of affirmations runs for only 10 minutes.
(If you want longer audios, let me know in the comments.)
But I packed those ten minutes with love and belief for who you are and what you are boldly creating in your life.
Hope they help you appreciate your beautiful self more and get to your next level.
Give ’em a test drive.
But What if You Prefer Guided Meditations for Artists Rather Than Affirmations for Artists?
Or do you prefer meditations over affirmations?

Check out these three gorgeous guided meditations for writers.
One of these three is a magical, pre-writing chakra tune-up that people tell me helps them get to their desks.
Hope it works for you as well.
Wishing you a thousand good things!

Do you ever do affirmations?
Do you ever meditate?
Or what kinds of affirmation audios would you like to hear?
Don’t be shy; I will answer every comment.
And appreciate you for your bravery in leaving one.

These affirmations work! I listen to them almost every day multiple times a day; I credit them for helping me get my poetry published 💪
🥰 This made me dance around my dining room in my socks!
So truly happy for you Sadir. You deserve to be published, your work is so strong and original and empowering.
Congratulations on your amazing bravery and your achievement.
I would like to know which affirmation in particular is your favorite, or which one helped you reach out to the poetry magazines?
Big writer’s hug,
Thea
My favorite affirmation is: I am well compensated as a writer and an artist. I also think you should do a longer version; maybe 15 or 20 minutes would be even better.
Thanks Sadie, I will consider your suggestion. I do want to record a longer set of prosperity, well being and confidence affirmations for artists and writers.
Also if you (or other readers) have an area in your art/writing business that you especially need support on, let me know here and I will add that in to the mix.
What we think we alone are struggling with in our art or writing practice is usually something millions of others would relate to but dont have the bravery to say out loud.
But as Carl Rogers said, “What is most personal, is most universal.”
Once again, Congratulations!
Thea I listened to the affirmations podcast twice before I finished my coffee or even got dressed! Then I went for a walk looking for signs from nature all the way. (Some days I follow a theme….look for smooth objects or how many textures can you collect on your walk…etc) While on this morning’s walk I listened to the affirmation podcast again. Your words inspired, refreshed, encouraged and excited me. You have a way of making me think in totally new ways. I am bursting with ideas!
In my list of things to do every day, I think I will add: listen to Thea’s Affirmations every day!
Wow wow wow. I am so honored Susan. What an amazing compliment to receive! I am blushing!
I think it is so cool how look for themes in nature on every walk, that is such a reflective, zen, super artist thing to do.
Two questions arise for you after thinking about your practice:
Can you tell me how you first started to think to do that on your walks?
And how does that looking affect your art work or time in the studio?
I’ll try to answer your questions, Thea.
I walk for fitness but when I walk in nature, it is so much more than exercise. As a visual artist, I am always looking at my surroundings with an eye toward how I would paint the scene. So it is only natural that walking in nature and keen observation go hand-in-hand. I began deeply observing the tiny things I found along the way as a way to consider the simple, beautiful or interesting objects of nature and how therapeutic it is to appreciate this created world.
Walking in nature inspires me to be creative. It not only provides subject matter for landscape paintings but it puts me in the right frame of mind to create.
To read more about how nature heals I have two newsletters on my website that speak more about walking and nature:

I love the idea of nature bathing while walking. Thanks for the links.
Hi Thea, I have listened to your affirmation podcast several times since it made its way to my inbox. Your voice is soothing and relaxing melting the stress and anxiety away. Thanks
Cari! I am turning a few mid-life lady cartwheels after hearing that!!
lol. Thanks so much for reaching out and letting me know. So glad I recorded it now.
What other topics might you want other affirmation sets on? You can email me in private if you dont want to answer on the interwebs.
‘it’s not just ok, it’s wonderful. and it’s what i’m here to do’.
this closing affirmation opened this heart and settled the busy brain. i have replayed many times the last day, hearing kind, loving, compassionate new ideas and needed permissions with each listen.
it just might become my “i Whistle a Happy Tune”.
thank you Thea. you are the gift that keeps on giving.
in gladness and with love – leslie in Oakland, ARTIST!
So glad you are getting you are an ARTIST – an artist in bold.
Your work is wonderful and strikingly original.
Thanks so much Leslie for taking the time to write about your experience with the affirmations.
I appreciate you, and am so glad you are in my life..
What a fantastic podcast, Thea. I actually listened to it twice today because it hit home in so many ways, especially as someone working in abstract art. While I love writing too, I know I’m still growing in that area.
You know, it’s funny – I’m constantly chatting with myself (my faithful buddy). Sure, we have our disagreements, but we always patch things up in the end. We are best mates (as we say in Britain). I bet most people have these inner conversations too, but here’s the real question: are you kind to yourself in these chats with your inner buddy or do you tend to be your own worst critic?
Something really struck me while listening – I barely ever include money and abundance in my self-talk. No wonder I’m where I am. Thanks for that eye-opener.
Maybe it’s our crazy-busy lives that keep us from taking those moments to pause, reflect and give ourselves those positive affirmations. Really appreciate you bringing this to light.
Suhail, it means so much to me that you would leave me these kind words. I really appreciate you for taking the time to do it. It’s funny to me how you don’t see yourself as a professional writer. But you are, the quality of your blogs for artists proves that. And about money- so glad I included some statements in there about that. Kind-hearted artists often serve themselves last at the dinner table of life. But it’s not good for you or others. So here’s to you making powerful art, you writing important meaningful words and you earning great income through your yeomen service to others in the form of your art AND writing. Cheers!
Hello again Thea. Thanks so much for those kind words. You know, it’s funny – I feel pretty solid in my abstract art game, but when it comes to writing, I’m still finding my feet. But honestly, that’s what makes it fun – picking up new tricks every day.
Oh, and I had this other thought about your affirmations podcast. When you talked about “inspiration” and “imperfection,” my mind immediately jumped to nature.
I used to be such a perfectionist. Whether I was doing portraits, landscapes or photography, I’d drive myself crazy trying to make everything “perfect.” Talk about exhausting!
But then something clicked when I really started observing nature, I mean looking a lot closer. Here’s the thing that blew my mind – nature doesn’t do straight lines. Those are totally our human invention. That realisation? Total game-changer for me. It was like finally being able to breathe, being free.
I started seeing how nature actually makes imperfection perfect, if that makes sense? There’s this incredible beauty, balance and harmony in the way everything just… works. I guess, we totally lose sight of that in our daily lives, but take a walk in the woods and there it is.
Nature’s basically giving us this constant gentle reminder like, “Hey, you’re human, you’re part of this whole thing and it’s completely okay not to be perfect”.
That was my ticket to freedom right there. The pressure just lifted and it completely transformed my approach to abstract art. Now nature’s my biggest inspiration, full stop.
I really believe there’s something beautiful and balanced about imperfection – that’s just my take on it anyway.
Probably sounds a bit wild, but hey – it works for me! 😊
It’s not wild, I wholeheartedly agree with your theories on imperfection and really appreciated your story of waking up to it , with nature as your teacher. Also we love the imperfections famous artists but not our own-look at the line drawings of James Thurber or Matisse or Picasso! If we did those very same drawings we would critisize the lines and find those drawings to be lacking. Isn’t that nuts? But when we look at their free-flowing, imperfect sketches we see them as big achievements just because of their fame.
That was awesome Thea! Packed with loads of information as well.
Thanks Lauren,
That means a lot to me, especially coming from you, one of the most dynamic art mentors I know.
I tried to include statements I wish I would be saying to myself on a daily basis; statements I could be thinking as opposed to my usual endless litany of mental worries or negative meanderings, lol.
xo Thea
